Liberty Memorial 1999 - July 4th weekend - Sidewalk Chalk Art
Every year on the 4th July weekend, Liberty Memorial opens up its sidewalks to the chalk art artists. Somebody sponsors each site - either the artist or some business. This year it rained - the ultimate bummer for chalk on pavement. We got there when it was misting and overcast - making good pictures very difficult. So I took some serious liberties with the digital printing: Most of these photos have been ultra-contrasted and saturated - perhaps more than the artist intended. Since I couldn't stand directly over the sidewalk, I also distorted the shape of the print to try and recover the rectangular shape from the trapezoid.
